Forza 4 - Seriously Good Pie!!

I picked up my copy of Forza 4 today after more excitement belittling my years!  Simply put I love it.  The pace of the career mode and variety is one thing I have taken to straight away.  No more are you forced to sit through 7 of the same race in a row, with the same car, you dip in and out of race types as you spin your way from track to track... a refreshing addition to the series!

The handling is worthy of an award and Simulation steering keeps you working smoothly as a tank slapper is always round the corner.  Although well publicised the changes to tyre models and graphics are noticeable and the frame rates are just sweet!

Well less blogging my thoughts... back to acting my shoe size!

Diablo 3 ..... So much hype!

In the late 90's a small team of programmers from Blizzard North developed Diablo, a game which would create a genre of Action Role Playing Games, which would later be defined by it's sequel Diablo 2.  D2 (and subsequent expansion) was enormously successful and still has a large following today, well over 10 years after release.

The concept behind the Diablo games is character building and constant improvement through collection of items.  The isometric view of the character whilst he fights and adventures his way through the world is quite refreshing and in usual Blizzard style is immersive and fantastically detailed.

I won't go into the details here as the likes of the unofficial Diablo fan site, Diablo Incgamers.com and its information database counterpart DiabloWiki.net have more information and regular updates than a lazy gamer's sticky sausage fingers (see Diablo Incgamers Podcast) could possibly consume.

It has taken them a while but Blizzard are fine tuning the details of Diablo 3 which is shaping up to be a superb game.  It seems to be more refined and looks better than any ARPG has even got close to.  The inclusion of an Auction House and a yet to be tested high level skill free spec system will make this epic.

There are elements of the D3 development process which seem to have taken the Diablo Lore and feeling of character customisation further away from the core than some of the die hard fans would like.

Having kept up with the hype I think it will be a great game that is likely to be around for a long long time!

..... and I can't wait!!!

Sparkle HD

Ok.... not sure why the first proper blog I decide to post is about Sparkle HD....
for those of you not familiar with it : Click Here!

There are many games like this which have created a rotary gem busting genre that has the most cynical non gamer coming back for more.  The first I can remember was Zuma by PopCap games.

I first came across Sparkle HD when a neighbours wife was encouraging my fortunate other to download it for her iPad as she was yet to find a game she really clicked with.  After downloading it and insisting Mrs Incognito teach herself how to play it rather than me show her, (and in doing so demonstrating my gaming prowess), she was hooked.

Sparkle HD has a good pace for a game of its kind and a fantastic learning curve.  The range of power-ups is satisfying and all are useful.  A nice twist is the ability to change your amulets and swing the balance of processional encroachment for the better.

It gets compared to Luxor for the iPad which is a similar game but the projectiles are launched from a base platform rather than the centre as in Zuma and Sparkle HD.  I have to say out the three Sparkle HD makes it for me and has a great story mode and replay ability.... Mrs I is on 4th play through!

Gaming ..... An Intro

So as this is my first post I suspect it will be a little lame, and I intend to use it mainly as a way to find my way around the blog designer and to get comfortable with the UI....

Gaming has always been a passion of mine since the days of the Spectrum Rubber keys and tape loading lovelies... ah the joy of waiting 20 mins for Desert Island Dizzy!!  I have played and owned pretty much every console produced and have settled with an Xbox360 as my console of choice and an iMac i3 for my chosen gaming rig.  (yes yes I know it is not an ideal gaming rig... and Who plays Games on a Mac??.... well I do!)

My life in Gaming has had many addictions and loves and I will discuss these over times individually, mainly driven by Blizzard's ability to make stinking great games, the likes of World of Warcraft, Diablo, Diablo 2, Starcraft 2 have filled my nights and passed many days.  I have dabbled with driving games on and off and have a respectable 24,000 gamer points on my X Box gamer tag.

I will leave it there but I will be providing commentary on all the above and more and rather that providing a review of games I will provide an overview of my experience playing and some of the issues I found and fun I had.

Ciao!
